Bronx Concert Singers' 31st Annual Holiday Concert
Join The Bronx Concert Singers (BCS) and music director Robert René Galván on Sunday, December 16, at 4:30 pm for their 31st Annual Holiday Concert at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1891 McGraw Avenue, in Parkchester, Bronx, NY. The program features Camille Saint-Saëns' Christmas Oratorio, op. 12, performed by the BCS chorus, with professional soloists and chamber ensemble. In this program, BCS uses Christmas favorites, traditional carols, and memorable classical vocal and instrumental works to paint a musical collage of holiday cheer and inspiration. In addition to Saint-Saëns' Christmas Oratorio, the program includes Dietrich Buxtehude's "In Dulci Jubilo," G. F. Handel's "Arm, arm ye brave" and "Sing unto God," from Judas Maccabeus, Claudio Monteverdi's "Beatus Vir," Ralph Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on "Greensleeves," and additional works.
Soloists for the performance are Nune Melikian, violin and Hugh-Anthony Moses, flute; Angela Szpak and Beverly McDew, sopranos; Laura Delarose and Jennifer Ponzoni, mezzo-sopranos; Anthony Cinelli and Dale Smith, tenors, and James Bobick, Hugh-Anthony Moses and Dalton Taylor, baritones. BCS accompanist Tamara Cashour is the keyboardist for this concert.
Tickets are available in advance and at the door from BCS: General admission is $20 / two for $35, seniors and students with valid ID, $15 and children through high school, $5. The Bronx Concert Singers is a nonprofit volunteer concert choir founded in the Parkchester section of the Bronx by people from all walks of life who love singing great choral music. The chorus presents classical music concerts with either professional orchestra or chamber ensemble and has been a source of cultural enrichment in the community since 1981. BCS is the chorus-in-residence at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
