Miroslav Volf Lecture Series
Miroslav Volf, Director of the Yale Center for Faith & Culture and Henry B. Wright Professor of Theology at Yale Divinity School will give a series of lectures on "Allah: A Christian Response" at University Congregational United Church of Christ in Seattle. Dr. Volf, a native of Croatia, has forged a theology of forgiveness and non-violence in the face of violence experienced in Croatia and Serbia in the 1990s. In this series of lectures, Miroslav Volf asks whether Muslims and Christians have a common God, and whether their communities will live together in peace.
Dr. Volf is described as a "brilliant Yale theologian" and his book, "A Public Faith: How Followers of Christ Should Serve the Common Good" was named One of the Top 100 Books and One of the Top 10 Religion Books of 2011 by Publishers Weekly.
On Friday, February 8, 2013, Professor Volf will give a lecture on "Do Muslims and Christians Believe in the Same God?" from 7 to 8:30 pm. On Saturday, February 9, Miroslav Volf will give two lectures: "God's unity, in Christianity and Islam" and "God's love and love of enemy in Christianity and Islam" from 9 am to noon. Miroslav Volf will also speak at UCUCC on Sunday morning.
Tickets go on sale December 8, 2012.
