Writer's Fest 2017 - Talking to the Dead,Dating Should Be Like Buying a Car & Josie, or It Came From Lake Honeymoon
Opening Nite's fourth Annual Writers' Fest features plays by three Mission residents: Susan Truman, Karen Humpage and Alex Rake. Both Susan and Karen have both written for the Writers' Fest before, while we are happy to have Alex as one of our first time writers. Susan's Talking to the Dead is an examination of broken family relationships, and the idea that we often wait for too long to make amends. Karen has written Dating Should Be Like Buying a Car, a lighthearted inter generational comedy about finding someone to be comfortable with, no matter what your age. Josie, or It Came From Lake Honeymoon is a surrealist comedy by Alex Rake. A couple go on a fishing trip, and their personal problems overshadow the fact that a monster has emerged from the lake and started nibbling on their picnic and trying to be friends.
All three short plays will be presented each evening, and some of the content is of an adult nature, in both themes and language.
