American Modern Ensemble: The Music of Steven Stucky
Each year, AME will feature one American composer on an entire program. Our first concert on April 16th, 2005 featured the music of Robert Paterson, our co-founder and Artistic Director. This season, our final concerts will feature the music of Steven Stucky, winner of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize in music. AME will perform a selection of his works, including two classics, Boston Fancies and Ad Parnassum, as well as his recently completed Piano Quartet. We will also play his hauntingly beautiful Partita-Pastorale, after J.S.B., a work he describes as "a kind of daydream about Bach." Blair McMillen, one of the fantastic pianists from our Powerhouse Pianists concert, will also perform Stucky's beautiful Album Leaves for solo piano. Please visit our website at www.americanmodernensemble.org to see the list of fantastic performers who will share the stage for these concerts. Stucky will be in attendance, so please join us afterwards at our wine reception and meet one of America's greatest living composers.
