The Slow Food Show
The second annual Slow Food Show will showcase local food entrepreneurs who are helping build our local food and farm economy by creating local jobs and using local ingredients in their artisan products, with undeniably delicious outcomes. Participating producers; - are small scale and hands-on, - maintain production facilities in New York City, or New York State in the case of co-packing or on-farm production, - use ingredients from the region or, if from afar, that are fair or direct traded, as applicable, and - do not use artificial ingredients. The Slow Food Show will be open from 1pm to 5pm. While guests sample products and chat with producers, they can purchase showcased products and small production beers from Jimmy's extensive list. And, Slow Food NYC will unveil its Producer Matrix, a listing of regional farms that supply restaurants, markets, and processors with sustainably grown and humanely raised products. Proceeds from this event will support the programs of Fare Trade, an alliance of local artisanal food producers, and not-for-profit Slow Food NYC, including the SFNYC Urban Harvest program of good food education for NYC kids in 12 schools and on a summer urban farm. Each year, more than 1,000 kids learn about the importance of good, clean, and fair food to their health and well-being, the health of their families and communities, and the health of the planet.
