Person to Person
A record collector hustles for a big score while his heartbroken roommate tries to erase a terrible mistake, a teenager bears witness to her best friends new relationship, and a rookie reporter, alongside her demanding supervisor, chases the clues of a murder case involving a life-weary clock shop owner. A splendid day-in-the-life comedy, the film was a surprise hit coming out of the Sundance Film Festival and Closing Night selection at MoMAs New Directors/New Films. It heralds the arrival of a unique voice in director Dustin Guy Defa, whose skillful storytelling is exceeded only by his direction of the film, which is punctuated by terrific comedic performances by Michael Cera (Arrested Development) and Abbi Jacobsen (Broad City). USA, 84m.
