The Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers and the Edmonton Seniors Coordinating Council as the Backbone Project for the Pan-Edmonton Group Addressing Social Isolation of Seniors (PEGASIS), are hosting two 2-day workshops for staff and volunteers providing services to seniors in the Edmonton area.
Brenda Mein, MA, CCP, CFD is a Mental Health First Aid Train the Trainer & Instructor, Facilitator, Developer, & Presenter.
Mental Health First Aid Seniors is tailored to address the needs and increase the capacity of seniors, caregivers, families, communities and care settings by promoting mental health. The aim is to become aware of the signs and symptoms, prevent mental illness and suicide where possible, and intervene early when problems first emerge.
Topics covered in the 14-hour workshop include: Seniors Mental Health First Aid Substance-Related Disorders Mood Disorders Anxiety Disorders Dementia (neurocognitive disorders) Delirium Psychosis
These 2-day sessions are funded in part by the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers and the Edmonton Seniors Coordinating Council PEGASIS Backbone Project. Participants pay a $50.00 course fee plus registration and GST.
There will be no refunds for cancellations received less than 48 hours before the session starts. If the session is full when you try to register, please send an email to Tim Henderson at the Seniors Coordinating Council (tim@seniorscouncil.net) to be put on a Wait List.
