Slow Food Chicago & Chicago Honey Co-op Summer Solstice Potluck
The longest day of the year is approaching and we are celebrating at our annual Summer Solstice event! Enjoy the extra hours of sunshine at the Summer Solstice Potluck, hosted by Slow Food Chicago and the Chicago Honey Co-op.
We're celebrating the solstice Sunday, June 25th. Come and enjoy delicious food, wonderful company and a tasty local brew with friends and family! The pot-luck is family friendly -- we'll have games and farm animals to entertain even our smallest friends.
A highlight of our calendar every year, the Summer Solstice Potluck is a community picnic at Rancho Verde, the LEED-certified headquarters of Christy Webber Landscapes.
We'll provide a main course and beverages, you can bring chairs or a blanket, and a potluck dish for sharing -- salad, side dish or dessert. We'll be pouring beer and wine along with non-alcoholic beverages.
Tours will be offered of the Chicago Honey Co-op bee-hives installed on the green roof throughout the event. On top of that, you and family can mingle, play games, craft, take a swing on the swing set, pet a miniature donkey or feed the goats -- it's a great family-friendly event!
Proceeds will benefit the Chicago Honey Co-Op Training Center and Slow Food Chicago's programming, such as the PreSERVE Garden, a community based garden run with our partners, the Chicago Honey Coop in North Lawndale. The garden produced over 500 lbs of produce last year for folks in the community.
Hope to see you there!
