Chuck McDermott first appeared on the Boston music scene in 1971 with his genre busting long-haired country band Wheatstraw. They toured relentlessly from Toronto to New Orleans, releasing two albums that drew praise from Rolling Stone, the Village Voice, New York Times and others, earning Chuck an induction into the Massachusetts Country Music Hall of Fame. In the early 80s, Chuck moved out to LA where he formed his own band and also began a collaboration with Americana music songwriting legend John Stewart that included four records and years of touring the US and Europe.

Chuck then took a break from performing for several decades, but he never stopped writing and sharpening the blade. The evidence of that can be found on his new album, Gin & Rosewater. The record brings together some of Bostons finest musicians Kevin Barry, Duke Levine, Mark Erelli, Lyle Brewer, Richard Gates, Marco Giovino among others and a guest performance by Stephen Stills. You may appreciate his sometimes irreverent, sometimes sardonic take on the world that dances and careens around him.
