The Souls of the Sea Trio
The Souls of the Sea Trio performs musical tributes to the lives and experiences of the fishermen of the North Atlantic and their families. The original and musically diverse songs are unique interpretations of life around the working waterfront, both yesterday and today. The three nationally acclaimed musicians, singers and songwriters are based in Americas oldest seaport, Gloucester Massachusetts, and perform throughout the Northeast.
Allen Estes (lead vocals, guitar, mandolin) Allen has co-written and performed songs for THE SOULS OF THE SEA since its inception. Besides his lead vocals in several genres, Allen plays guitar, harmonica, piano, banjo, and mandolin. He has lectured in songwriting and performance at THE BERKLEE SCHOOL OF MUSIC in Boston, MA, and has co-written songs with Tammy Wynette and Shania Twain. Allen has also been opening act for Bonnie Raitt, J Geils, Jonathan Edwards, Tom Rush, Earl Scruggs, and Waylon Jennings. Sal Baglio (guitars, vocals) Sal is the well-known founder, lead singer /songwriter and guitarist for the famous STOMPERS. He has been a featured guitarist for THE SOULS OF THE SEA since its first production. Sal has also played with the Beach Boys, and has appeared on many recordings with artists such as Tom Hambridge and Johnny Winter. Matt Leavenworth (fiddle, vocals) Voted best fiddler and best mandolin player in numerous Boston Country Music Awards, Matt has played with stars such as John Anderson, Peter Wolf of the J. Geils Band, and Marty Haggard. He received a Gold Album Award for his session work at Atlantic Records and has toured extensively in the US, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Matt has been a regular featured performer for THE SOULS OF THE SEA for the past 16 years.
