Reno, NV. Next to Normal takes the Brüka Theatre stage for Artown 2017. A darkly funny award winning musical directed by John Frederick and musically directed by Cami Thompson. Playwright Brian Yorkeys lyrics skillfully navigates through some of lifes most painful moments with brilliant humor and touching honesty atop Tom Kitts powerfully emotional score, making Next to Normal the feel everything rock musical you dont want to miss.
Boasting 3 Tony Awards, 11 nominations, and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Next to Normal takes the audience on a musical journey through what some call everyday life and others call illness. Connecting with theatergoers in a way that will have them singing the songs and talking about the story long after the curtain falls. This contemporary musicals electrifying score and thought provoking lyrics soar seamlessly through 30 spellbinding songs dealing with family crisis, loss, and love.
Next To Normal brings you some of Northern Nevadas finest talents. Cori Lynne Cooper and Ryan Kelly will reprise their roles as Diana and Dan, Next To Normal brings you some of Northern Nevadas finest talents. Cori Lynne Cooper and Ryan Kelly will reprise their roles as Diana and Dan, while Adam Semas plays the Doctor turning his previous role as Gabe over to the talented Thomas Thompson. The Next to Normal production also welcomes some budding young talent from the incredible Reed High School program, Natalie Gonzalez as Natalie and Adam Walmsley as Henry.
Next To Normal opens with a post-show opening night champagne reception and appetizers from the Wild River Grille on July 7, 2017. The show runs weekly Thursday through Sunday through July 30, 2017. Evening shows begin at 8:00 pm (Artist night is Wednesday July 19, 2017 all tickets on this night only are $10.) There are two Sunday matinees on July 16 & 30. The matinees begin at 2:00 PM and the second is followed by a talk back with the company and our audience. The doors open a half an hour before curtain time. Suggested for ages 14 and up.
Reservations are available through our box office at (775) 323-3221. Individual tickets are $22 for general $20 for students, seniors and military and all tickets are $25 at the door. ABOUT BRÜKA THEATRE In its 24th season in downtown Reno, Brüka has been named Best Theatre Company by The News and Review nineteen years running. Brüka Theatre is a leader in the region, recognized for its productions, artists and theatre for children series since its founding in 1992. Central to Brüka is the commitment to the reinvestigation of contemporary and classic plays and developing new plays within Brükas Artistic Collective, which include winners of the Nevada Arts Council and Sierra Arts Foundation artist grants and 9 local best actor honors.
