Temple by Steve Waters at Grace Cathedral
Dont miss the opportunity to see the US premiere of this rich and deeply thoughtful play about St. Pauls Cathedral and Occupy London in the gorgeous, site-specific, Gothic surroundings of Grace Cathedrals Quire. Aurora Theatre Company brings their production (running April 14 to May 14) across the bay for one performance only.
In October 2011, Occupy London set up camp outside one of Londons most beloved institutions, St Pauls Cathedral. Soon, the building that had famously survived floods, terrorist threats and the Blitz closed its doors, and the City of London took legal action against Occupy to remove protesters by force if necessary. Steve Waters new play is a fictional account of the behind-the-scenes machinations by the church and city leadership, dramatizing the turmoil faced by principled, thoughtful people who must decide which of their ideals theyll betray. Temple was a recent hit at London's Donmar Warehouse.
A rich, deeply thoughtful piece about contemporary values.- London Financial Times
Directed by Aurora Theatre Company's Artistic Director Tom Ross, and starring Sylvia Burboeck, J. Michael Flynn, Sharon Lockwood, Leontyne Mbele-Mbong, Mike Ryan, Grady Walsh, Jack Wittmayer and Paul Whitworth.
