Intro-to-Bouffon Workshop 4 Tuesday Night Sessions 7pm - 9pm Nov. 27th (Tuesday after Thanksgiving), Dec. 4th, 11th, 18th $60 total for new students, $80 total for returning students

What you would be experiencing: Bouffon is outrageous, grotesque satire. The bouffon uses mockery, wit, parody. They can dance beautifully and grovel annoyingly in the same breath. They are charmingly obscene and dangerously perceptive. The bouffon provokes laughter even amidst the darkest of subjects, and they do so by athletically, ecstatically, hilariously celebrating the underbelly of humanity. The appetite in the bouffon is singular the hunger to see and play with what society has to hide. The bouffon doesn't judge. They are a fun house mirror of us. Why? Because it's fun. Why practice bouffon? To undermine apathy. To acknowledge the tragedies we share, the shame we hide, and the beauty of acceptance.
This training has had the good fortune of being awarded BEST OF THE BAY: BEST ROMP WITH YOUR INNER PSYCHOPATH by the SF Bay Guardian.
It was recently seen in action in YOU KILLED HAMLET, which won the BEST OF THE SF FRINGE this year.
And recently led to an invitation to design and lead a more comprehensive version of this training through a 7-week Bouffon Training Intensive at SF Circus Center's Clown Conservatory this coming spring, from April 1st - May 19th.
We're inviting you to get your feet wet. No experience necessary, just a fire in your belly to to play.
We ask all participants to pay in full before or at the 1st session ($60 total for new comers because the 1st session is always free, $80 total for returning students). If for any reason you choose not to return after the 1st session you will be given a full refund within that week (the reason the refund may not be immediate is because, depending on how the payment was made, we may need to call our online event ticketing service to issue you the refund.) No refunds are possible as of the 2nd session, even if the participant is absent.
Lastly, if you are interested, please let us know at your earliest convenience. The workshop needs a minimum of four committed participants in order to proceed.
