San Jose Youth Symphony's "Season Finale Concert"
The San Jose Youth Symphony's Philharmonic Orchestra, under the artistic leadership of Music Director and Conductor Yair Samet, presents its Season Finale Concert, featuring internationally renowned violinist, Eunice Kim, to be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 4:00 pm at the California Theatre, 345 S. 1st Street, San Jose, CA 95113.
The program will open with Gershwin's Girl Crazy Overture, and will conclude with one of the most popular of all symphonic works, Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade. This concert will also feature the engaging violin soloist, Eunice Kim, who will perform Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor.
The San Jose Youth Symphony (SJYS) is one of the oldest and finest youth orchestras on the West Coast of the U.S. Founded six decades ago as part of the former San Jose Symphony, SJYS has a rich tradition of musical performance and education.
The mission of SJYS is to give young people a foundation for life through orchestral music.SJYS creates programs that assure young musicians achieve technical proficiency, musical knowledge and an emotional connection to music. We strive to make each performance for the community uplifting, spirited and exciting.
The musicians of SJYS, ranging in age from 8 to 21, are chosen from more than 600 applicants through our annual auditions. The SJYS comprises 12 distinct performing ensembles: two full orchestras, a chamber orchestra, two flute choirs, a jazz ensemble, two string ensembles, a concert winds, saxophone, percussion, and harp ensembles.
