FREE Orca Awareness Month Film Screening
In celebration of Orca Month, join us for a conversation on the health of our Southern Resident orca population, the many threats they face, and their deep connection to our iconic inland waterway with a screening of The Unknown Sea: A Voyage on the Salish.
Produced by Deep Green Wilderness, this film explores the natural and cultural history of the newly named Salish Sea by taking us aboard the Orion for a voyage to the heart of the Pacific Northwest's newly named inland waterway - interviewing people deeply connected with the Salish Sea all along the way.
We'll also be joined by Dr. Lesanna Lahner, executive director and veterinarian at SR3 (Sealife Response + Rehab + Research), who will provide an update on the health of our Southern Resident Killer Whale population and SR3's current efforts to build a dedicated marine wildlife hospital in Washington.
The Environmental Science Center and the Washington Environmental Council will also be on hand to discuss upcoming environmental and Orca Month events!
Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
This free event is sponsored by Washington Environmental Council, the Environmental Science Center, SR3, Defenders of Wildlife and Deep Green Wilderness.
