The mystery. The artistry. The pressure.
The delectable drama unfolds at Vegan Iron Chef San Francisco in a cutting-edge culinary standoff that will entice foodies of all persuasions.
The San Francisco Vegetarian Society presents the San Francisco Bay-area edition of the Portland-born gastronomic throw-down, Thursday March 21st in the Starr King Room at First Universalist Society of San Francisco, 1187 Franklin St., San Francisco.
Culinary wunderkinds Eric Tucker (executive chef, Millennium Restaurant), Philip Gelb (In the Mood for Food Catering), Sascha Weiss (executive chef Plant Cafe), Lisa Books-Williams (Thrive Holistic raw-food chef) and others vie for a to-be-unveiled prize and the opportunity to compete in Regionals leading up to the Vegan Iron Chef Finals in Portland in 2015.
Competitors get 60 minutes to prepare a three-course meal consisting of an appetizer, main course, and dessert. They will also need to incorporate the secret ingredient which will be revealed just before they start. Meanwhile, guests can check out green and gourmand vendors and play a little trivia for prizes.
Judges include Minh Tsai, founder of Hodo Soy Beanery; Miyoko Schinner, vegan chef, cookbook author, and TV cooking show host; and Nicole Sopko, of Upton's Naturals.
