Please join us at Spruce on June 12th as we host a truly singular winemaker dinner featuring the wines of Shafer Vineyards. Founded by John Shafer in the 1970s after replanting 30 acres of hillside vineyards in Napa Valley, Shafer has become one of Napa Valleys finest wineries. John Shafer was instrumental in gaining government approval for the Stags Leap District AVA, which became Napa Valleys third sub-AVA in 1989. In 1983, Johns son Doug joined the winery as winemaker and coined his fathers reserve Cabernet Sauvignon as Hillside Select, a wine that would become one of Napas most iconic Cabernets year after year. During this dinner, Doug Shafer will lead us through Shafer's current vintage wines in addition to two fantastic library vintages of Hillside Select, 1999 and 2005. The wines will be paired with a special menu crafted by Chefs Mark Sullivan and Steven Pelas.
