Colectivo El Pozo presents Colján
Pozo is back and opening our 4th season with this bold original play- a work that explores the art of deceit and how one negotiates to survive in love and war. What does one negotiate in our complex relationships? What does one negotiate in the effort to dim the indigenous and run toward the Westernized? Colján unfolds layer upon layer of deceit between others and within ourselves. Somewhere beneath the layers emerges an ancestral mask and a beating, ever-reminding drum.
Set in Chicago, Colján captures the crisis of a Latino immigrant after a wretched borrachera. Omar Soto (Marcopolo Soto) will confront demons related to the Conquista, an inherited colonial past, the modern present, all a midst a devastating break-up in a painfully delightful clash.
Performed in Spanish with English supertitles. Approximate run time 50 minutes.
