A Tribute to USO Shows of the 1940s
The Praeclara Ringers celebrate the service and sacrifice of U.S. military servicemembers both past and present with this tribute to USO shows of the 1940s. Conductor Kyle Blackburn debuts at this concert as the new director of Praeclara's elite handbell choir.
Featured selections include a medley of Cole Porter songs, "What a Wonderful World," "You'll Never Walk Alone," "It Don't Mean a Thing If You Ain't Got that Swing," and Blackburn's original arrangement of the U.S. Armed Forces Medley. Members of the Praeclara Vocal Company will also perform with trumpeter Andrew Medina for "The Boogie-Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B."
The show will take place in Second Presbyterian Church's Great Hall, reimagined with World War II-era decor and "cigarette girls" selling refreshments.
