Calçotada 2017
The Wythe Hotel and Peter Hoffman invite you to celebrate Spring with special dinner in the outdoor garden. Join us for calçots cooked over the grill, a full menu, Scribe rose and a live flamenco performance.
In Catalunya, the arrival of a sort of spring onion or calçot, heralds the coming Spring. All around the region, towns gather together to char them over a vine-fed live fire and eat them with romesco, grilled meats, beans, greens, and wine, of course, plenty of wine. Peter Hoffman long carried the torch of this festival here in New York at his influential and greenmarket-obsessed restaurants (Savoy, Back Forty). In addition to being the guy who made knowing your farmers cool, he threw a damn good Spanish party. He's closed the chapter on 26 incredible years of owning and running restaurants to focus on new endeavors like writing a book and further agricultural/farm ecology activism, but has agreed that calçotada must live on!
Full menu will feature grilled calçots, romesco, house-made butifarra, spring lamb, giant white runner beans, charred greens, sherry, and rose (including the new Una Lou release from our friends at Scribe). We are a gratuity free establishment and ticket price includes service. Limited reservations are available for specific time slots, please ensure your entire party is able to arrive at your reserved seating.
