Mari Black Trio

Multistyle violinist and world champion fiddler Mari Black presents a special concert of energetic, eclectic fiddle music from around the world, with an emphasis on her love of klezmer! The show will feature Maris fresh dance-driven music that transcends any musical style, an innovative blend of Celtic, American, and Canadian fiddling, jazz, klezmer, tango, folk, original works, and more. Joined by her band of dynamic virtuosos (Colin Cotter on guitar and Joe Magar on bass), Mari will take you on an unforgettable journey through the world of music, with many unexpected twists, fun background stories, and lots of toe-tapping for everyone!

Called "particularly impressive" by the Boston Globe and "one of the brightest young fiddlers around today" by WBGH radio's Brian O'Donovan, Mari is rapidly building a reputation as one of the most dynamic young artists of her generation. Her energetic playing, engaging stage presence, and commitment to bringing people together through music have made her a favorite with audiences across the country and around the world.

Mari, who is from Boston, is the 2015/2013 U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion, 2014 Glenfiddich Scottish Fiddle Champion, and 2014/2012 Canadian Maritime Fiddle Champion. An internationally-recognized performer, she has been featured at Scottish Highland Games, Celtic festivals, celebrated folk venues, jazz concert series, Argentine tango festivals, and world-famous classical concert venues including Carnegie Hall.
