Reverent Sounds in a Sacred Space feat. Manhattan Chorale
Manhattan Chorale presents "Reverent Sounds in A Sacred Space" led by Artistic Director Craig Arnold and featuring members of the New York City Chamber Orchestra at the gorgeous St. John the Baptist Church on Tuesday evening, May 23 at 7:30pm.
The centerpiece of the program is the splendid Lord Nelson Mass (Missa in Augustiis, Mass For Trouble Times) by Joseph Haydn. Also presented in mass structure are eclectic movements by individual composers: Kyrie (from Missa Solennelle), Louis Vierne; Gloria (from MASS), Leonard Bernstein; Credo- Et incarnates est (from Missa Pange Lingua, Josquin Des Prez; Sanctus et Benedictus (from Missa Brevis) Julian Wachner; and Agnus Dei (from Berliner Mass), Arvo Part.
The concert includes the lovely Song To The Moon for flute, oboe, piano and choir by Z. Randall Stroope and ends with the classic spiritual, Evry Time I Hear The Spirit arranged by William Dawson.
Don't miss this meditative, transcendent evening of choral music!
