WFAC 2012: Rainbow Fireflies
During summer vacation in 2002, a year after his father passed away in a traffic accident, 12-year old Yuta goes alone to visit a place they used to visit together - an unused dam deep in the mountains, where they used to collect rhinoceros beetles.  He loses his footing in a thunderstorm and gets knocked out, waking up to see a small girl and a village - a village which had been submerged a long time ago, under the waters behind the dam.

He had slipped back in time over thirty years, to a time before the dam was completed - to another summer vacation, and another chance for Yuta to reclaim what cannot be reclaimed.  The lush natural surroundings, hanging out with the local kids, encountering a mystical girl named Saeko - Yuta experiences things that he has never experienced before.  It becomes an unforgettable summer for a boy that has emotional trauma.  When Saeko's secret begins to be revealed, a conflicted feeling emerges within Yuta.  What does it mean to "live", to "live on," to "live for the present"?  The boy grows up struggling to find the answer.

Ten years after Yuta comes back to the present, a miracle occurs to the former children of the village  it was the village's legend, "Rainbow Fireflies."
