Event
Black Doldrums, Purple Heart Parade and The Hungry Ghosts at The Brewhouse on Friday May 12
This is going to be a quite magnificent night of psych and garage rock and roll!
Black Doldrums
The London duo formed the band in the summer of 2013 with Kev Gibbard on guitar and Sophia La Croix on drums. The inspiration to form Black Doldrums came from the mutual love and respect they both had for artists such as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Kills, Bob Dylan and The Velvet Underground.
With their thunderous rythms, tribal beats, swirling guitars and bluesy riffs, Black Doldrums have been on the scene playing shows all over the country including playing shows for one of London's finest independent record label "Dirty Water Records" and supporting acts such as Steve Cradock from Ocean Colour Scene and Paul Weller.
The release of their first EP saw the band featured in Shindig Magazine as part of national record store day 2014 celebrations.
After the successful launch of their EP 'Exit City Lights' in August 2016, Black Doldrums released their much anticipated album 'People's Temple' in February this year!
Released by label Eggs in Aspic on cassette, where Black Doldrums are proud label mates with Cult of Dom Keller, Oulu Space Jam Collective and Grotto. Whilst Blue Moon Records released People's Temple on Vinyl and CD. The duo have since gone on to play shows in and around London including shows in Manchester, Paris, Glasgow and very recently some barnstorming performances on their debut US tour!

Purple Heart Parade
Support comes from Purple Heart Parade, who are no strangers to us! Hailing from Manchester, the band are regulars on the London gigging scene and known for fantastic live sets! The band have played the Reverence Festival in Portugal; White Rabbit and Leeds Karma nights, Manchesters Cosmosis Festival and the Liverpool Psych Fest. The band have supported Black Lizard, The Pink Mountaintops, The Cult of Dom Keller, The Vacant Lots and Sean Lennon, where Sean actually picked the band to support his band in Manchester.
