This class will investigate five different styles of poetry based on form. Though free verse poetry is often most common for putting thoughts to paper without the hindrance of following any types of rules, it can be equally satisfying to put yourself in a creative place of following certain rules to write poems. The five forms will be: Haiku, Senyru, Tanka, Villanelle, and Sestina. As a bonus and a take home assignment you will learn about the Golden Shovel. Please bring paper and pen/pencil or your laptop/Macbook.
