Orkestra del Sol - Album Launch Party GLASGOW!
Having announced that this is to be the last year of Orkestra del Sol, the band is now setting about making the rest of 2017 one MIGHTY celebration! Join them for an evening of bombastic brass, big sousa bass, bad ass rhythms and red 'n' black bravado (you know the score). Plus a whole lot of album launch fun!
Support comes from the awesome SambaYaBamba Youth Street Band - a 30-strong collective of street drummers, brass, wind and reeds players. Carnival music, Glasgow style!
Due for release on 23rd June, 'Gross National Happiness' is Orkestra del Sol's fourth album, a glorious collection of original, joy-filled tunes bursting with brassy goodness. As with previous album Lung Capacity (2011), the new release features a wide range of styles written by a broad selection of band members, all given the full Orkestra del Sol treatment and expertly worked into an outstanding, mouth watering, foot stomping album. Produced by Marcus Britton and Ben Seal, Gross National Happiness provides a killer follow-up to Lung Capacity.
Physical copies of the album will be released as a limited edition CD digipak, with artwork by the uniquely talented John Felix. Only 1,000 copies!! You can get yours 2 weeks ahead of the release date at THIS Orkestra del Sol's GLASGOW ALBUM LAUNCH! One of just a handful of Scottish dates during the band's final year. NOT to be missed.

"a mighty kick, a grunt of satisfaction and a healthy dose of humour" - The Herald
"The genius of the Orkestra is the way they hide serious musicianship inside tongue-in-cheek humour. Its a winning combination" - The Scotsman
"anything as unashamedly fun as this should go a long way" - The List
