GRINGO STAR (ATLANTA):
Gringo Star are insouciant explorers, tossing the paddles overboard and drifting on the currents of their lackadaisical curiosity across a rippling sonic ocean, out to the far edges of rock & roll. Shots pulsing from a vintage Leslie speaker, their guitars, keys and vocals create the psychoactive ingredients of their echo-slathered, doo-wop-indebted indie gems; psychedelic garage bangers, gritty R&B shuffles and spaghetti-western weirdness. Taking cues from Santo & Johnny, The Stooges, Ritchie Valens, Marc Bolan, Percy Faith, Sam Cooke, the men working on the chain ganguh! ah!theyre all here, their electric ghosts reaching across time, tapping Gringo Star on the shoulder like the crossroads devil to Robert Johnson, bestowing secrets, passing torches.

Shantih Shantih is a four-piece rock n' roll band from Atlanta, Georgia playing fuzzed out melodies and mesmerizing beats. Anna Barattin (ex-Vermillion Sands / Trouble in Mind & Fat Possum, and now an Atlantan by way of Italy) delivers distinctive vocals over threefold backing vocal harmonies.

MOUNTAIN MOVERS (CT):
The Mountain Movers have, over the course of five albums and a decades worth of LPs, CDs, 7-inches, CDrs, and cassettes steadily become New Havens best kept secret; a band capable of lurching between melancholic indie rock, strident garage/psych and pummeling guitar freak-fuckery. Their earliest beginnings saw the band documenting bandleader Dan Greenes vast catalog of songs, while displaying a rotating cast of New Haven musicians unique skills. Shortly after the bands fourth album (2011s Apple Mountain) constant members Greene and bassist Rick Omonte were joined by drummer Ross Menze and guitarist Kryssi Battelene, forming what is now the Mountain Movers longest running lineup. The bands eponymous sixth album takes cues from everything before and coalesces the bands vision so succinctly and perfectly, it makes you wonder where theyre been your whole life.
