An Evening of Southwest Images & Music by GRAMMY Nominee Gentle Thunder
An Intimate Evening of Southwest Images and Music by GRAMMY® nominated multi-instrumentalist, recording artist and musical intuitive, Gentle Thunder. During the evening slide show, rather than speak about each photo, she will be set up off to the side and create the soundtrack in the moment on grand hammer dulcimer and several Native American flutes.
In the fall of 2014 she toured through the awe inspiring landscapes of Bryce Canyon, Escalante, Moab, Arches, Needles, Mesa Verde, Abiquiu and the Tsankawi ruins. Respectfully she offered her musical prayers, serenading canyons, rivers, sunrise/sunset, stars, animals, 140 million year old petrified trees, a few humans and the homes of ancient of civilizations long since gone.
Unlike previous tours, Gentle Thunder had no events booked, no reservations or commitments. She traveled solo in the Southwest for 2 months in a 19 foot RV camper van, yet never really alone, allowing Spirit to guide her where to go, playing music to our beloved Earth and all our relations. It was a life altering journey.
ABOUT THE ARTIST...
Gentle Thunder lives in Mount Shasta, California, yet enchants audiences worldwide with her distinctive sound and heart filled presence. Her original music creates an uplifting, relaxing and inspiring environment.
Gentle Thunder's musical journey began as a rock-n-roll drummer at the age of fourteen. While recording as a drummer in Memphis, TN in the early 90's, she became captivated by the hammer dulcimer and ancestral heritage.
In 1998, she branched out as a solo artist and released her first hammer dulcimer album and then, in 2004, her first solo Native American flute album Winds of the Heart. Her 3rd CD release, Beyond Words with Will Clipman & AmoChip Dabney, was GRAMMY nominated Best New Age Album alongside Enya, Peter Kater, Andreas Vollenweider and Enigma at the 49th GRAMMY Awards. Her most recent CD was solo flute and hammer dulcimer entitled Opening the Gate. Gentle Thunder has recorded and produced 6 albums to date.
Over the past thirty years of touring and airplay, Gentle Thunder has obtained an international audience with her diverse musical talents and authentic presence.
"I love helping people come home to themselves and remember their true essence through the music I play," says Gentle Thunder. "It is my greatest joy to be of service in this way and I look forward to sharing where my journey has taken me these past few years."
Eric Alan, former Music Director JPR, calls the experience of Gentle Thunder's music "a glorious musical journey that's a sharing of deep spirit more than a mere performance." And Bette Timm from Aura Magazine describes it as "music that calls you back home to your heart . . . unique and inspiring."
More recently, Gentle Thunder's focus is working as a musical intuitive one-on-one and with groups, offering vibrational alignment/sound healing sessions, flute lessons and occasional concerts. She is available for in person or phone sessions worldwide. Call 530-925-4495 for more information.
