FIRST IMPRESSIONS
SATE celebrates its tenth year producing theatre in St. Louis with the Season of Adaptation. The season will examine the state of being adapted: what it means to change something; to become relevant to a new or special application or situation by both adapting previously known works into stage adaptations and by exploring themes within scripted plays that deal with characters adapting to some kind of environment. For its fourth production of the Season of Adaptation, SATE will present First Impressions, an adaptation of Jane Austens novel Pride and Prejudice. SATEs original play will incorporate recollections from a variety of peoples first impressions upon reading the novel. From Pakistan to Paris to St. Louis, 200 years after it was penned, love of this book still connects us. The first impressions used in the text of the play were crowdsourced for SATE specifically for this production. First Impressions was conceived by Ellie Schwetye and Rachel Tibbetts. SATE presents First Impressions, May 17-27 (Wednesdays-Saturdays) at 8:00pm, at The Chapel, 6238 Alexander Drive, St. Louis, MO 63105. SATEs performing ensemble includes Nicole Angeli, Cara Barresi, Michael Cassidy Flynn, Rachel Hanks, Katy Keating, Andrew Kuhlman, Carl Overly, Jr., Parvuna Sulaiman, Ellie Schwetye, Kristen Strom, Jazmine Wade, and John Wolbers First Impressions is directed by Rachel Tibbetts.
