CCT Membership 2017-2018
Clayton Community Theatre's 2017-2018 season includes:
Two Trains Running by August Wilson, directed by Nada Vaughn October 12 22, 2017 This Pulitzer Prize-nominated play, set in the Hill District of Pittsburgh in 1969, dramatically highlights the changing attitudes toward race in the North at the time, from the perspective of urban blacks. In one of his most affecting plays, Wilson explores a time of extraordinary changeand the ordinary people who get left behind.
Bus Stop by William Inge, directed by Sam Hack February 1 11, 2018 In this entertaining romantic drama filled with empathetic characters set in 1955, eight strangers are thrown together by Fate in a rural Kansas diner when a snowstorm causes bus passengers to seek shelter there; and Fate has a sense of drama and humor. The play is ultimately optimistic and hopeful. (Interestingly, both Two Trains Running and Bus Stop take place in a diner.)
Brighton Beach Memoirs by Neil Simon, directed by Joe OConnor May 31 June 10, 2018 This well-known play, the first in Simons semi-autobiographical Eugene trilogy, shows the coming of age of a young man in Brooklyn in 1937. This story is an affectionate, thoroughly entertaining lesson in overcoming hard times with warmth, and humor. CCT plans to present the entire trilogy over the next three seasons.
We will be performing each production Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8:00 and Sunday afternoons at 2:00.
