Christmas Past and Present
Soli Deo Gloria celebrates their 5th season with "Christmas Past and Present" Sunday, December 9 at 7 pm at University Presbyterian Church. The beautiful voices of Soli Deo Gloria will present a festive and colorful palette of music from three continents sung in eight languages! Hear familiar carols from four centuries of musical traditions of England, France, Germany and America. Sample the Christmas traditions from Sweden and Finland then explore new music from America, Canada, Finland, and West Africa. The concert will include Guiseppi Verdi's "Laudi Alla Vergine Maria" from his "Four Sacred Pieces" and two distinctly different arrangements of "Ave Maria".
Joining SDG will be "Trombe Music", an elite group of brass musicians comprised of professional players from the Central Valley. SDG concert-goers may remember them from last year's Christmas concert. We are excited to invite them back again!
Directed by Dr. Julie Carter, this unique 16-voice women's chorale is by audition only and is comprised of talented singers from the Central Valley.
Mark your calendars for an unforgettable evening of Christmas music that both celebrates the birth of Christ and warms your hearts.
Tickets are $15 General and $10 for Students with I.D. and Seniors.
