You've often thought about penning that romance novel or organizing those family favorites into a cookbook. How do you start? Do you consider self publishing? How do you distribute the book? (No, books do not sell themselves.) These are just a few questions Connie Fairbanks, cookbook author, will answer as she takes you through her two year journey from writing the first draft to publishing Scratch That: Seasonal Menus and Perfect Pairings.
Ms. Fairbanks self published Scratch That™ Seasonal Menus and Perfect Pairings written with the home chef in mind. She's taught cooking classes and hosted many live TV food segments/appearances in Chicago and the Midwest. She has written several food articles, including a raclette article in Culture cheese magazine, Make it Better, Today's Chicago Woman, etc. Connie has been interviewed frequently on Midwest radio regarding Romance and Food, Saving Dollars in the Kitchen, and What She's learned to be True. Her extensive business and pleasure travel to Europe gives her plenty of food and travel ideas for articles. This summer, she will be tending to her roof deck produce garden, trying to remember what she learned growing up on a farm in Kansas.
Giving back is very important to Connie. She's been a volunteer tutor to kids for more than two decades. She washes dishes at a homeless ministry, lends a hand to her Chi Omega sorority, cleans her neighborhood park, and helps out on the piano at her local elementary school. With her love of architecture, she is a volunteer interpreter for the Frank Lloyd Trust and leads Rookery tours. Connie has sat on several boards including The Chicago Jazz Ensemble and The Newberry Library.
