TPaRbor Clean-Up Day
The Mission Reach Ecosystem Restoration and Recreation Project has restored an eight-mile stretch of the San Antonio River into a quality natural riparian woodland ecosystem. In 2014, the San Antonio River Authority gave Texas Public Radio the opportunity to adopt a 3.4-acre stretch of natural area on the southeast corner of the Theo Avenue bridge, which we call the TPaRbor.
TPR is calling for volunteers on Saturday May 13th, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. to assist in the clean-up of the area. Volunteers will rotate every 30 minutes on the following tasks:
1)Weed removal and mulching around established trees 2)Removal of invasive small tree species 3)Hand weed removal 4)Seeding of wildflowers 5)Collecting trash/brush from site
The work day will result in expanded and improved habitat conditions and connections to the San Antonio River ecosystem.
Because of space limitations, we must limit this volunteer workday - no groups or troops, please. Youth volunteers ages 16-18 may sign up with their parent or guardian also volunteering.
Free parking will be available at Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department, 235 East Mitchell Street, SATX 78210 A shuttle will transport everyone to the work site.
