Horses Used as Draft Animals class at Landis Valley
Gain a different perspective of driving and horsemanship in this interactive class. From the first day, you'll learn the history of draft horses, the types of harness and how to put it on, an dthen you'll set off on a wagon, driving various hitches of horses around the village of Landis Valley. Fieldwork will be covered as well, if time and weather permit.
Wear sturdy work clotes and work shoes or boots and bring a pair of lightweight leather gloves that won't slip on leather lines. You must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Class is part of Landis Valley's 2017 Summer Institute. Class runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
Please note that prices include a catered breakfast and lunch in the Yellow Barn each day for Institute participants. If you choose to forgo the meals, please choose the 'no meals option' pricing.
Students must be age 18 or older. Please visit our website, www.landisvalleymuseum.org, for more information on Institute. Landis Valley Associates (LVA) members receive 5% off their registration.
