SESSION BRITANNICA
Well, here's a capital idea: Session Americana - the loose, root-rock collective of Ry Cavanaugh, Billy Beard, Dinty Child, Jim Fitting, Kimon Kirk and Sean Staples is shifting gears at the Lizard Lounge Tuesday Feb. 26. They will, for a night, transform into "Session Britannica," selecting folk and pop songs from the UK canon. (They have transformed once before into the "(Bob) Seger Sessions," which was reported to have a bit of a campy vibe about it. This one shouldn't.Joining the crew will be Bill Janovitz (of Buffalo Tom and Crown Victoria), The Everyday Visuals, the Rudds' John Powhida, Dennis Brennan, David Champagne and Rose Polenzani. Folks, we're talking about quite a mighty lineup of local luminaries here. Here's some promises about the songs: The Visuals are doing Radiohead's "Idiotech," Child is doing the Kinks' "Complicated Life," Powhida is doing Joan Armatrading's "Me, Myself & I," and Brennan's Unit 4+2's "Concrete and Clay." Dozens more, of course. The show starts at 9:30 and the tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door. We really suggest you buy early, not just to save five bucks, but we predict this one will sell clean. Jim Sullivan www.jimsullivanink.com
