RUSTY BELLE with JULIA HATIGAN BAND and JULIA BARRY
Thursday 11/8 RUSTY BELLE with special guests JULIA HALTIGAN BAND JULIA BARRY $10 advance / $12 at the door 9:00 doors / 10:00 show www.rustybelle.com www.juliahaltigan.com www.juliabarry.com
rusty belle began with the quiet determination to make unique music. starting in their living rooms and working their way through coffee shops, bars, clubs, listening rooms, concert halls, and festival stages, they developed a style all their own. rusty belle swings easily from sweet, simple melodies, whiskey lullabies, blood ballads, busted bluegrass, and folk-punk anthems, to tongue-in-cheek sleaze-rock, glossy-mag candy-pop, and down-home porch-tunes. the remarkable thing is that its all done with honesty and respect for the music. their shows are never predictable and always dynamic. at their best they will bring to you sweet nostalgia, swaggering poise, drunken logic, and grimy dancing before sending you home with a gentle "goodnight."
JULIA HALTIGAN "Julia Haltigan's timeless voice, look, and persona make her something of a period piece. Her effervescent performances are also known to entrance entire crowds. Haltigan's entire life is music: When she's not singing, she can be found attending another show. Whether she's crooning about motorcycles, old flames, or mermaid's tails, Haltigan's jazzy, sixties sound and Spanish rhythms shine through." -Interview Magazine
"The youthfully exuberant Julia Haltigan, a modern descendant of a caste of strong female country singers conjured an air of sultry class." -New York Times
"There's a singular, sexy sound emanating from the concert halls of New York's East Village and Lower East Side. The sultry, seductive music comes from Julia Haltigan, a gorgeous singer-songwriter whose combination of country, jazz and blues into catchy, romantic ballads has put her at the top of my make out playlist." -Glamour Magazine
JULIE BARRY Julia Barry is an indie pianist, singer, and songwriter based in NY. Recently hitting the studio with eight other instrumentalists, she recorded her second CD, Once, or Twice, which features jazz- and blues-inspired songs of wonder and longing.
Often compared to the likes of Norah Jones and Joni Mitchell, Julia's voice is as gritty and sweet as her songs are kick-you-under-the-table honest. Her live sets have been described as "mesmerizing" and "haunting" and you can catch her performing live, especially in NYC.
