Tuesdays in the Newsroom: What Lies Beneath: Long-term Ocean Research Off Martha's Vineyard
What can we learn about by studying the deep ocean waters off Martha's Vineyard?
Dr. Heidi Sosik, a biological oceanographer and phytoplankton ecologist, will be on hand to talk about the microscopic life that inhabits the sea around us, and what it can tell us about the health of our oceans.
Dr. Sosik and colleagues at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution have developed automated underwater cell analyzers that dramatically enhance our ability to study microscopic organisms that fuel ocean food chains and sometimes produce harmful algal blooms.
The event is free but advance registration is required.
