Practice your best Charlie Brown dance moves for the fourth annual Charlie Brown Jazz Christmas Concert, presented on Dec. 8, 2012, by local recording artist John Milham's Green Roof Productions and benefitting the Haven, a no-kill animal shelter.
Rock around the Christmas tree with nationally touring band the Invincible Czars from Austin, Texas. The Czars will perform its rendition of Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker Suite," an arrangement described as "a whimsical rock interpretation expanded in recent years to include the band's unique interpretations of other seasonal favorites." Once your head is filled with dancing sugar plum fairies, drummer John Milham will take the stage with his trio, featuring pianist Chris Spies and bassist Tommy Sciple, performing Vince Guaraldi's beloved soundtrack, "A Charlie Brown Christmas." Children of all ages will delight in projected animation from the movie and scenes from other classic children's Christmas movies while the band performs. The Jubilee Children's Chorus and the Center Stage Youth Choir of Fairhope also will lend their voices to the music.
The Haven animal shelter, located in Baldwin County, receives $2 from every ticket sold. Proceeds help provide medical care for the more than 80 animals that call the shelter home. Children and families will have an opportunity to take pictures with Snoopy in the lobby before and after the show.
About John Milham and the Charlie Brown Christmas Concert
In 2008, Fairhope-born drummer John Milham formed a jazz trio to perform the music of the 1965 Vince Guaraldi album "A Charlie Brown Christmas." Milham realized over the years that it seems everyone loves the iconic cartoon characters and the catchy songs of the season, which have become holiday classics in their own right.
