People ask me if comedy is tough, think about it, Ive been booed by 80,000 people in a football field, whats a couple of hundred at a comedy club
Benny Ricardo delivers intelligent imagination while having fun and being mischievous. And he does it with a photographic memory and the energy of a nuclear reactor.
His sense of humor is derived from an 11-year kicking career in the NFL (Detroit, Buffalo, New Orleans, Minnesota and San Diego), growing up traveling around the world and learning to be multi-lingual.
As a comedian Bennys list of television credits include the Tonight Show, David Letterman Show, Good Morning America, World News Tonight, Comedy Central, HBO, Vh-1, Galavision Que Loco and Telemundo Loco Jam. As an actor his movie credits include North Dallas Forty, Two Minute Warning, Semitough, Against All Odds. The Betsy, Best of Times and Shadow Force.
Benny was an All- American soccer and football player at San Diego State University and Orange Coast College. Benny has also played professional soccer and racquetball and has won state and national championships in handball.
At his first NFL game on the road, he was erroneously put in a Honeymoon Suite and the bride and groom showed up in the middle of the night. For Lions rookie Benny Ricardo, the NFL life was all about extending his childhood. Where else can you get on the phone and get all your teammates to come to the front desk and have new rooms reassigned to them. This after the front desk had put them in suites. So Ricardo and his partner in crime Tom Skladany ended up taped faced down on a trainers table for that joke.
Hey next week they were emptying full bottles of shampoo in the shower on their unsuspecting teammates who had their eyes closed and head under the shower to rinse off the shampoo suds. They all marveled at how much suds can be derived from such a small amount of shampoo, not knowing Ricardo and Skladany were emptying the entire bottle while they rinsed off under the running water.
During his 11-year pro career, Ricardo never missed a field goal in overtime and had the NFL record of 29 consecutive field goals without a miss. Ricardo kicked during a time when kickers had to kick whatever ball they put in front of him, wet, dry, stick em. Not like today where kickers have designated kicking only balls. Ricardo has called over 400 World Championship Boxing matches as well as MMA. As a comedian Ricardo has appeared on the Tonight Show, Letterman Show, World News Tonight, Good Morning America and the biggest stages in the world. Someday Ricardo will actually get a job.
