Return to the Scene of the Crime David Kleinberg Goes Back to Vietnam for the First Time in 50 Years
Solo Theater Sequel to Davids Acclaimed Hey, Hey, LBJ!
Three years ago solo theater artist David Kleinberg made his world debut of his powerful Vietnam war work Hey, Hey, LBJ at the San Geronimo Valley Community Center. David, who was drafted and went to Vietnam as an army combat correspondent, was in Bangkok on R&R when a rocket hit the bunker he would have been in back at Cu Chi -- killing three of his buddies and wounding all six others.
Hey, Hey, LBJ was acclaimed by the Washington Post and an ex-Rolling Stone senior writer. It went on to sell-out an eight-show run at the prestigious Marsh Theater in San Francisco, played throughout the country, and last November in Sydney, Australia.
Davids sequel, Return to the Scene of the Crime, makes its world debut at SGVCC Saturday, June 10, 7:30 p.m.
Return deals with Davids first trip back to Vietnam in 50 years last April to visit where his buddies died, and his attempt to perform Hey, Hey, LBJ! in Ho Chi Minh City under threat of arrest, with David awake in his hotel each night at 3 looking for the first flight home.
David Kleinberg is a former journalist who spent 34 years as an editor and writer at the San Francisco Chronicle, the last 14 years as editor of the papers Sunday Datebook. He has also spent ten years as a stand-up comedian, appearing with Robin Williams, Dana Carvey and Richard Lewis. He is a native of San Francisco, who has lived in the city all his life. David is donating 100 percent of the box office to the San Geronimo Valley Community Center.
