Folk-inspired repertoire will transport concertgoers to rural villages and back to our exciting concert venue. Music by Kodály, Bartok, and Vaughan-Williams as well as contemporary settings of folk tunes will be heard. The finale of YWCPs year of remarkable musical growth, this Spring Showcase Concert features our four performing ensembles: Prelude Chorus, Allegro Chorus, Allegro Ensemble, and the Young Womens Chorus.
The Young Women's Choral Projects of San Francisco transforms the lives of young women through exceptional artistry in choral performance, and brings the expressive power of their music to the community, the nation, and the world. Through YWCP, young women ages 7-18 from richly diverse socio-ethnic backgrounds find their voices as singers, artists and women in a nurturing environment that empowers them to achieve artistic and personal excellence. YWCP offers four levels of choral experience, each with its own curriculum and musical objectives: Prelude Chorus (beginning level), Allegro Chorus and Allegro Ensemble (intermediate levesl) and Young Women's Chorus (advanced level). All YWCP ensembles teach young women the joy of performing, and instill in each singer important life benefits such as confidence, focus, self-discipline, problem solving, responsibility and compassion.
