For this very special Tribute Tuesday, 3 of Bostons best singers backed by a killer band will take you on a journey through the music from four landmark albums in the order in which they were released.
1977 was a milestone year for punk rock. Within the short span of less than 11 months, the 3 bands that ended up defining this era of punk on both sides of the Atlantic (The Ramones, The Clash and the Sex Pistols) released four albums that would represent the benchmark and template of classic punk.
The seeds of punk had been planted in the years ahead. The Ramones had been around since 1974, and they had already released their first album when they played their landmark show at the Roundhouse in London on July 4 1976. The Sex Pistols formed in 1975 and The Clash in 1976. But 1977 was the year that it all exploded on record, making its way to disgruntled teen-agers around the world.
Ramones Leave Home opened fire in January. The Clash released their eponymous album in April. Never Mind The Bollocks Heres The Sex Pistols came out in late October and the Ramones closed this incredible cycle of releases with their third album, Rocket To Russia.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT THIS SHOW:
"Damn I can certainly vouch for those late 70's Clash and Ramones shows as we Hoods did multiple shows with both... god save the queen and all the aging punkers that still hold that flame close and want to destroy the fake the phony and the safe comfortable music poseurs " DAVE MINEHAN (The Neighborhoods, The Replacements)
"This tribute to punk rocks greatest year (The Clash, Never Mind the Bollocks Heres the Sex Pistols and two Ramones albums were released) features a kicking house band (Tony Savarino!) and such guest vocalists as Chris Cote and Andrea Gillis." JED GOTTLIEB - BOSTON HERALD
