APA Los Angeles Awards Gala
Join APA Los Angeles for our 2017 Awards Gala at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in East Hollywood, celebrating the best of planning in the Los Angeles area! This annual soiree recognizes the exceptional efforts being carried out by urban planners, advocates, elected officials and others to make great communities happen. It is a gathering of our region's most active and innovative urban planning professionals, including professionals from cities, agencies, non-profits, and consulting firms. This year, were excited to have as our keynote speaker Christopher Hawthorne, Architecture Critic for the Los Angeles Times and thought leader on Los Angeles urbanism.
Please join us for exclusive tours of Frank Lloyd Wrights Hollyhock House and a discussion of its historic significance, a hosted bar and hors d'ouevres before the ceremony, followed by a celebratory reception and the Young Planners Group after-party!
4:00-5:45 PM Arrive early for a private afterhours tour of the Hollyhock House, Frank Lloyd Wrights first project in Los Angeles. The house recently re-opened after an extensive restoration, allowing visitors to tour the stunning interiors of the property. Cost is $7, payable by Visa or Mastercard only.
5:30 PM Join Jeffrey Herr, Curator of the Hollyhock House, and Ken Bernstein, Manager of the Citys Office of Historic Resources, for an informal discussion of recent preservation efforts, including the extensive renovation and an ongoing application to have the space recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
6:00 PM Hors douevres and Hosted Bar provided by Eagle Rock Brewery and Silver Lake Wines
7:00 PM Awards Ceremony featuring Keynote Speaker Christopher Hawthorne of the Los Angeles Times
8:30 PM Dessert and Hosted Bar Reception with music provided by the Brian Swartz Jazz Quartet and photobooth sponsored by the Young Planners Group

Getting to the event: By rail Take the Metro Red Line to the Vermont/Sunset Station and walk to the stairs at the southeast corner of the park. By car Parking is available throughout Barnsdall Art Park on a first-come basis. Metered street parking is available on Hollywood Blvd., Vermont Ave., Sunset Blvd., and Edgemont St.
