'Twas the Nightclub Before Thanksgiving w/Freddie Hughes
Join Dusty Stax and The Verdi Club for a very special pre-Thanksgiving feast on Thanksgiving-eve Wednesday November 21st as part of the Verdi Club Junior Edition series. If you've never attended one of these magical nights you're in store for an intimate evening of five star food and five star entertainment.
The dinner is a delightful four course menu and wine pairing picked just for this special evening by chef Sean Gawel. Now's your chance to enjoy Sean's cooking artistry while being part of an evening curated by Dusty Stax. We're taking the classic supper club/nightclub experience to the Verdi Club and have created a night to remember.
After dinner, you'll be serenaded by the legendary soul singer Freddie Hughes. Bay Area native Freddie Hughes charted several times in the 1960s and 70s and is best known for his mega hit "Send My Baby Back". Freddie's talent and magnetic performance will take you on a trip back with some of the best R&B ever made. Freddie will be accompanied by our own Christopher Burns on the Hammond B3 organ. Freddie and Chris will play some of Freddie's big hits and then take you on a trip to the blues.
To start the night we've assembled a trio of the Bay Area's best up-and-coming comedy talents. while you dine you'll be treated to stories and one-liners from the best comedic brains in the bay.
We are especially proud to have Emily Heller. You may have seen her on John Oliver's New York Stand Up Show on Comedy Central, or as one of the New Faces at the 2012 Montreal Just For Laughs Festival. In 2011, She was included in Comedy Central's Comics to Watch and was named one of the "Funniest People in Town" by 7x7 Magazine.
Supporting Emily is San Francisco's hilarious Sean Keane. He's a three-time Iron Comic champion, a three-time performer at SF Sketchfest, and won the 2008 Twisted Biscuit competition. He's contributed to McSweeney's Internet Tendency and ESPN the Magazine.
Opening the night is San Francisco native Dave Thomason. Dave recently won Rooftop Comedy's Silver Nail Award recognizing the best up-and-coming comedians in the nation. Dave has performed at a bunch of neat-o festivals across the country, including the SF Sketchfest, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, and the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival. His stand-up has been featured on NPR's "Snap Judgment". You can catch him regularly at the Punch Line in San Francisco.
This event will prove to be a unique and special experience that will certainly make this Thanksgiving holiday an unforgettable one. Tickets are very limited so act soon.
