Before the Flame
Witness the explosion of art that is generated when a composer, a visual artist, nine dancers, and a trio of string players all collide on stage in this experimental work that defies the norm of "dancing to the music. Instead of creating this dance 'to the music,' the music was instead created as a response to the choreography; the visual art exists as a response to both. Featuring a live creation of art by visual artist, Dierdra Olin, and the world premiere of a composition by Russell Podgorsek performed by string trio, Pyxis Reckon, Before the Flame seeks to explore the similarities and disparities between:
The artists palette
The cyclic life of the phoenix
The notes trickling from a composers pen
The drawing of a bow across a string
The tumultuous world stage
