Day Trip to Germantown, PA
Founded in 1683, Germantown is rich in historic treasures. First, we visit Rittenhousetown, site of the first paper mill in America and the ancestral home of astronomer/clock maker David Rittenhouse. We will tour a range of historic structures on this unique site. Next, we visit Cliveden: a great Georgian house and home of the Chew family until the 1970's. The Revolutionary War Battle of Germantown was literally centered on its lawn. Lunch (provided) will be on Cliveden's grounds.
Motorcoach boards at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum at 8:45 a.m. Breakfast and lunch are included. Breakfast is served at Landis Valley's Yellow Barn starting at 8 a.m. Trips include walking so proper footwear is essential.
