Artemisia Trio: Women Who Rule
Music on Madison presents...
The Artemisia Trio
Artemisia is a Chicago-based acapella trio that harnesses the power of the female voice to explore complex social issues through the vocal traditions of the world.
Their program at The Musical Offering - "Women Who Rule" - will present a robust roster of powerful women and the songs celebrating them.
Praised for sincerity, wit, and mind-blowing technique (Vocal Arts Chicago), Artemisia brings diversity and accessibility to their programming. Not your typical stand-and-sing ensemble, Artemisia draws from a vast repertoire of vocal styes to take audiences on a journey of sound and spirit with every performance.
In addition to performing, Artemisia works with community and youth ensembles to advocate for a culturally literate and socially aware approach to singing. This season, they were thrilled to workshop and perform with both the Chicago Children's Choir (Hyde Park division) (directed by Mollie Stone) and the Columbia Chorale (directed by Emily Edgington Andrews).
As a collaborative ensemble, Artemisia also strives to showcase the work of other artistic ensembles. Recent collaborations include working with the the Bourné family, The Rookery, The Matchsellers, Ask Your Folks, and Glass Mountain.
