Are your curious about ethnobotany or the latest on foraging? With more people interested in foraging for summer berries and wild edible foods, the time has come for some straight talk on how to enjoy these resources, where to learn more about them, and how to take precautions as we find ourselves drawn back to our roots as gatherers.
Join WSU Kitsap Extension and Langdon Cook for a lecture The wild edible foods of summer including purslane and the wild berries of the season like thimbleberry, salal, and everyone's favorites, the many varieties of huckleberry. Culinary adventurer Langdon Cook is a writer, instructor, and lecturer on wild foods and the outdoors. His books include The Mushroom Hunters: On the Trail of an Underground America, winner of the 2014 Pacific Northwest Book Award, and Fat of the Land: Adventures of a 21st Century Forager. His writing appears in numerous publications, and he has been profiled in Bon Appetit, Outside, Salon.com, and the PBS TV series Food Forward.
