Songwriting Works Community SongFest
Olympic Peninsula performing songwriters and PT Songlines Choir will bring original music, interactive singing, video and songs composed with communities in Port Townsend, Sequim, Port Angeles and Quilcene to the 2nd Annual Community SongFest at 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 11th at the Northwest Maritime Center in Port Townsend. Performers include Jim Valley's Rainbow Planet, Daniel Deardorff, Judith-Kate Friedman, Matt Sircely, Keeth Monta Apgar, Joe Breskin, Harmonica Pocket, PT Songlines, the Musical Instigators and screening of Aba Kiser's WWII Homecoming Song video.
EVENT: 3:00pm to 4:30pm: -Parents Choice award-winning performers "The Harmonica Pocket" -Jim Valley's "Rainbow Planet" -PT Songlines Choir. -Songwriting Works' Touring SongTeam and the Musical Instigators
From 5:30 to 6:45pm: -Community Potluck
From 7:00-8:30 pm -West Coast premiere of the WWII Homecoming Song video -Judith-Kate Friedman, Daniel Deardorff, Joe Breskin and special guests.
Advance Tickets are $15 through Brown Paper Tickets, and will be available at the door for a suggested donation of $12-$25; "More if you can, less if you can't, no one turned away." The Northwest Maritime Center is wheelchair accessible.
This year's festival celebrates Youth, Aging and Creativity Across the Generations. The performers, all of whom live in Jefferson or Kitsap county, bring decades of experience from the worlds of rock, pop, folk, Americana, bluegrass and country to the mix. All have been working with Songwriting Works in its mission to restore health and community through song on the Olympic Peninsula and beyond.
