Title 24 Energy Modeling and Net Zero Homes in California: A Case Study of Two Projects
Title 24 Energy Modeling and Net Zero Homes in California: A Case Study of Two Projects
Beginning with the next iteration of the California Energy Code, residential projects will have to be net zero or have nearly zero energy consumption throughout the course of a year. This class will show examples of a single family and a multi-family net zero projects while discussing design challenges, cost impacts, and energy reduction strategies. We learn how recent shifts in the Code are preparing California for net zero homes and how we can start thinking about our designs for the future.
Learning Objectives 1.Learn about Californias expectations for Net Zero homes
2.Learn how code will help improve design, construction, and verification
3.Learn to identify areas of highest energy use and how the energy model reacts to changes in design
4.Learn when it is best to reduce energy consumption or to add clean energy generation
